Turbosmart Gen V CompGate40 External Wastegate – 40mm | 14 PSI | Purple

Take precise control of your boost with the Turbosmart Gen V CompGate40 External Wastegate — Turbosmart’s motorsport-proven 40mm external wastegate and the highest-flowing wastegate of its kind. The Gen V CompGate40 delivers extensive user configuration, world-leading extended thermal performance, superior fatigue resistance, and best-in-class flow performance for optimum boost control and long-term reliability. This unit is supplied with a 14 PSI (0.97 bar) spring and finished in purple — a universal external wastegate solution for any turbocharged performance build.

Key Features:

  • Gen V CompGate40 — Turbosmart’s fifth-generation 40mm external wastegate, refined through decades of motorsport development
  • Highest flowing wastegate of its kind — best-in-class flow performance for optimum boost control and minimal boost creep
  • 14 PSI (0.97 bar) spring — supplied with a 14 PSI base spring for boost control from 14 PSI and above with a boost controller
  • Extensive user configuration — multiple port configurations and spring options for precise boost control tuning
  • World-leading extended thermal performance — engineered to withstand the extreme exhaust temperatures of high-performance and motorsport applications
  • Superior fatigue resistance — designed for long-term reliability under the repeated thermal cycling and mechanical stress of sustained performance use
  • Purple finish — anodized purple finish for a distinctive appearance in the engine bay
  • Universal fitment — compatible with any turbocharged application using a 40mm external wastegate
  • Turbosmart quality — engineered and manufactured by the global leader in boost control technology

Performance Benefits:

  • Best-in-Class Flow Performance: The CompGate40’s 40mm valve and optimized flow path deliver the highest exhaust gas flow capacity of any wastegate in its class — allowing the wastegate to bypass exhaust gases efficiently and maintain precise boost control without boost creep at high power levels
  • Boost Creep Elimination: Superior flow performance prevents the boost creep that occurs when a wastegate cannot flow enough exhaust gas to control boost pressure — a critical advantage for high-power builds where boost creep can cause overboost and engine damage
  • Precise Boost Control: Extensive user configuration options allow the CompGate40 to be tuned for precise boost control across a wide range of applications and boost targets — from street builds to full motorsport applications
  • Extended Thermal Reliability: World-leading thermal performance ensures the CompGate40 maintains consistent operation and sealing integrity at the extreme exhaust temperatures of high-boost and high-power applications — where lesser wastegates can warp, leak, or fail
  • Long-Term Durability: Superior fatigue resistance ensures the CompGate40 maintains consistent performance and sealing over the long term — resisting the valve and seat wear that degrades boost control accuracy in lesser wastegates

Fitment & Compatibility:

  • Universal fitment — compatible with any turbocharged application requiring a 40mm external wastegate
  • Requires a dedicated wastegate flange on the exhaust manifold or turbo outlet — verify your manifold has a 40mm wastegate port before ordering
  • 14 PSI base spring — boost pressure can be increased above 14 PSI with a boost controller; boost below 14 PSI requires a lower-rated spring (sold separately)
  • Additional spring options available from Turbosmart for different base boost pressure requirements
  • Installation: Professional installation by an experienced turbo/boost system specialist recommended

What’s Included:

  • Turbosmart Gen V CompGate40 external wastegate – purple (TS-0552-1013)
  • 14 PSI (0.97 bar) spring
  • Mounting hardware
  • Installation instructions

Installation Notes:

  • Professional installation by an experienced turbo/boost system specialist recommended
  • Verify your exhaust manifold has a 40mm wastegate port before installation
  • Use high-temperature anti-seize on all exhaust fasteners
  • Connect boost controller lines to the wastegate actuator ports for boost pressure adjustment above the base spring pressure
  • Check for exhaust leaks at the wastegate flange after installation
  • Verify boost pressure with a boost gauge or data logging after installation — do not rely on the factory boost gauge for accurate readings

External Wastegate – How It Works:

An external wastegate is a separate valve mounted on the exhaust manifold or turbo outlet that bypasses exhaust gases around the turbocharger’s turbine wheel to control boost pressure. When boost pressure reaches the wastegate’s spring pressure, the valve opens and diverts exhaust gases through a separate outlet (typically a dump tube or merged back into the exhaust), reducing the energy driving the turbine and limiting boost pressure. External wastegates are preferred over internal wastegates for high-power applications because their larger valve size and dedicated flow path allow them to bypass more exhaust gas more efficiently — providing more precise boost control and eliminating the boost creep that can occur with internal wastegates at high power levels. The CompGate40’s 40mm valve and best-in-class flow performance make it one of the most capable external wastegates available for performance and motorsport applications.

Understanding Wastegate Spring Pressure:

The wastegate spring determines the base boost pressure — the minimum boost level at which the wastegate begins to open. A 14 PSI spring means the wastegate will begin opening at approximately 14 PSI of boost pressure. To run boost above 14 PSI, a boost controller (manual or electronic) is used to apply pressure to the wastegate actuator, keeping the valve closed above the spring pressure and allowing boost to build higher. To run boost below 14 PSI, a lower-rated spring is required. Turbosmart offers a range of spring options for the CompGate40 to suit different boost targets — select the spring closest to your target base boost pressure for the most precise control.

Why Turbosmart?

Turbosmart has been engineering boost control products — wastegates, blow-off valves, boost controllers, and fuel pressure regulators — since 1997, with a product lineup trusted by professional racing teams and performance enthusiasts worldwide. Their Gen V CompGate40 is the result of decades of wastegate development and motorsport refinement — a product that has earned its reputation as the highest-flowing, most reliable external wastegate in its class. Turbosmart’s Australian engineering heritage and global motorsport presence make them the definitive choice for boost control components.

Perfect For:

  • High-power turbocharged builds requiring a 40mm external wastegate with best-in-class flow performance
  • Motorsport and track applications where boost creep elimination and precise boost control are critical
  • Street performance builds targeting boost pressures above 14 PSI with a boost controller
  • Any turbocharged application where the factory or existing internal wastegate is insufficient for the power level
  • Builders who want Turbosmart’s Gen V engineering, thermal performance, and fatigue resistance in a 40mm external wastegate

Pro Tip: Select a wastegate spring pressure close to your target base boost level for the most precise boost control. A spring that is too far below your target boost requires the boost controller to work harder to hold the wastegate closed, reducing control precision. A spring at or slightly below your target base boost delivers the most stable, consistent boost control.

Note: Requires a 40mm wastegate port on your exhaust manifold. 14 PSI base spring — boost above 14 PSI requires a boost controller; boost below 14 PSI requires a lower-rated spring. Verify all exhaust connections are leak-free after installation.
