Haltech WB1 Single Channel CAN Wideband O2 Controller Kit | Bosch LSU 4.9 Sensor | Direct Haltech ECU Integration

The Haltech WB1 Single Channel CAN Wideband O2 Controller Kit is Haltech's purpose-built wideband lambda controller engineered for direct CAN bus integration with Haltech ECUs — delivering accurate, real-time wideband oxygen sensor data to the ECU via CAN without the signal degradation, calibration drift, and analogue noise that affect traditional 0–5V analogue wideband controller outputs. The WB1 uses the Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband oxygen sensor — the industry-standard wideband sensor used in OEM and aftermarket applications globally — and transmits lambda data directly over CAN to the Haltech ECU for closed-loop fuelling, data logging, and tuning. The complete kit includes the WB1 controller, Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor, weld-in bung, 1200mm CAN cable, power supply cable, and quick start guide — everything required for a complete wideband installation in a Haltech-equipped vehicle.

Key Features:

  • CAN bus output — transmits wideband lambda data directly over CAN to the Haltech ECU — eliminates the signal degradation, noise, and calibration drift of analogue 0–5V wideband outputs for more accurate, more reliable lambda data
  • Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor included — the industry-standard wideband oxygen sensor — accurate, fast-responding, and proven in OEM and aftermarket applications globally
  • Direct Haltech ECU integration — engineered for seamless integration with Haltech ECUs via CAN — lambda data appears directly in Haltech's ECU software (NSP/ESP) without additional configuration or signal conditioning
  • Single channel — one wideband sensor channel — correct for single-exhaust applications or for monitoring one bank of a dual-exhaust engine
  • Complete kit — includes WB1 controller, Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor, weld-in bung, 1200mm CAN cable, power supply cable, and quick start guide — everything required for installation
  • Haltech quality — manufactured by Haltech, one of the most respected ECU and engine management brands in the performance aftermarket

Why CAN Wideband vs. Analogue Wideband?

  • Analogue Wideband Limitation: Traditional wideband controllers output a 0–5V analogue signal that the ECU reads through an analogue input. This analogue signal is susceptible to electrical noise from ignition systems, alternators, and other vehicle electrical components — noise that introduces error into the lambda reading. Analogue outputs also require calibration of the ECU's analogue input to correctly interpret the voltage as a lambda value, and this calibration can drift over time as components age.
  • CAN Wideband Advantage: The Haltech WB1 transmits lambda data as a digital value over CAN — a noise-immune, high-speed communication protocol that delivers the lambda reading directly to the ECU without analogue signal conditioning. The digital CAN signal is not affected by electrical noise, does not require analogue input calibration, and does not drift over time. The result is more accurate, more consistent lambda data that the ECU can use more reliably for closed-loop fuelling and data logging.
  • Haltech ECU Integration: Because the WB1 is engineered specifically for Haltech ECUs, the lambda data appears natively in Haltech's NSP/ESP software — no additional configuration, signal mapping, or analogue input assignment required. The WB1's CAN output is recognized automatically by the Haltech ECU, simplifying installation and ensuring correct data interpretation.

Bosch LSU 4.9 — The Industry Standard:

The Bosch LSU 4.9 is the most widely used wideband oxygen sensor in both OEM and aftermarket applications — used by Bosch, Innovate, AEM, Haltech, and virtually every other wideband controller manufacturer as their reference sensor. The LSU 4.9's wide lambda measurement range (0.65–9.0 λ / approximately 9.5–AFR infinity), fast response time, and proven long-term accuracy make it the correct sensor for performance engine management applications. Including the genuine Bosch LSU 4.9 in the WB1 kit ensures that the controller's accuracy and response characteristics are matched to the sensor it was calibrated for.

Compatibility:

  • Engineered for direct CAN integration with Haltech ECUs — Elite series, Nexus series, and other Haltech ECUs with CAN bus capability
  • Verify CAN bus compatibility and WB1 support with your specific Haltech ECU model and firmware version before ordering — consult Haltech's product documentation or contact Straight Six Imports for compatibility confirmation
  • The WB1 can also output an analogue signal for use with non-Haltech ECUs or data loggers — verify output configuration options in Haltech's WB1 documentation for non-Haltech applications

Installation Notes:

  • Weld the included bung into the exhaust system before the catalytic converter (if equipped) and after the turbocharger (if equipped) — the sensor must be positioned in the exhaust stream where it will receive representative exhaust gas samples
  • Position the sensor at a slight upward angle (10–15 degrees from horizontal) to prevent condensation from pooling in the sensor body — water ingress can damage the sensor element
  • Connect the WB1 to the Haltech ECU via the included 1200mm CAN cable — verify correct CAN bus termination for your specific Haltech ECU and wiring harness configuration
  • Connect the power supply cable to a switched 12V source that is active when the engine is running — the WB1 requires power to heat the sensor to operating temperature before accurate readings are available
  • Allow the sensor to reach operating temperature before relying on lambda readings — the WB1 heats the LSU 4.9 sensor to its operating temperature automatically, but accurate readings are not available until the sensor is fully heated
  • Do not expose the sensor to water or condensation before it has reached operating temperature — thermal shock from water contact on a cold sensor can crack the sensor element
  • Refer to Haltech's WB1 quick start guide and ECU documentation for complete installation and configuration instructions

Why Haltech?

Haltech is one of the most respected ECU and engine management brands in the performance aftermarket — an Australian brand with a global following among professional tuners, race teams, and serious performance enthusiasts who demand accurate, reliable engine management. Haltech's product lineup spans ECUs, wideband controllers, sensors, and accessories — all engineered to work together as an integrated engine management system. The WB1 is a natural extension of Haltech's ECU lineup — a wideband controller engineered specifically for Haltech ECU integration, delivering the accurate, noise-immune CAN lambda data that Haltech's closed-loop fuelling and data logging capabilities demand.

Perfect For:

  • Haltech ECU-equipped vehicles requiring accurate, CAN-integrated wideband lambda monitoring for closed-loop fuelling, data logging, and tuning
  • Performance builds where the noise immunity and accuracy of CAN wideband data is preferred over analogue wideband outputs — particularly in high-ignition-noise environments (high-energy ignition systems, proximity to ignition components)
  • Single-exhaust or single-bank monitoring applications where one wideband channel is sufficient — for dual-bank monitoring, two WB1 units can be used
  • Tuners and engine builders who want Haltech's native CAN wideband integration for the cleanest, most accurate lambda data in Haltech's NSP/ESP tuning software

Note: Engineered for Haltech ECU CAN integration — verify compatibility with your specific Haltech ECU model and firmware before ordering. Weld bung into exhaust before installation. Position sensor at slight upward angle to prevent condensation ingress. Allow sensor to reach operating temperature before relying on readings. Do not expose cold sensor to water.
