Why Subframe Connectors

The 2nd gen F-Body (Camaro and Firebird) is a unibody platform with a bolt-in front subframe that carries the engine, front suspension, and steering. Without subframe connectors, the front subframe and rear chassis rails are connected only through the floor pan, which flexes under cornering, acceleration, and braking loads. This flex reduces suspension geometry accuracy, degrades handling response, and contributes to body shake. Subframe connectors tie the front subframe directly to the rear frame rails, providing a continuous rigid structure from front to rear. The result is a noticeably stiffer chassis with improved handling precision, better traction under acceleration, and reduced body flex — a foundational upgrade for any F-Body performance build, drag car, road course car, or resto-mod.

• 1.5" x 3" x .120 Wall Rectangular Steel: Heavy-wall rectangular tubing — .120" wall thickness provides significant torsional and bending stiffness. Hotchkis sized the tubing cross-section to maximise rigidity within the available floor clearance envelope
• TIG-Welded: All joints TIG-welded for clean, strong, structurally reliable welds
• Powder Coated Gloss Black: Finished in gloss black powder coat for corrosion resistance and appearance
• Tucked-In Design: Designed to sit close to the floor structure for maximum ground clearance — does not reduce ride height or create clearance issues with standard ride heights

Installation — No Floor Cutting Required

• Front Mount: Bolt-in with the option to weld. The bolt-in front mount allows the front subframe to be removed in the future if needed — useful for engine swaps or major service. Welding the front mount provides maximum rigidity if subframe removal is not a concern
• Rear Mount: Weld-in to the rear chassis frame rail
• No Floor Modification: Installation does not require cutting or modifying the floor boards — the connectors route alongside the floor structure
