NRG FRP-302 — Fibreglass Bucket Shell

The FRP-302 uses a fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) shell — significantly stiffer and lighter than a stamped steel seat shell, providing a rigid support structure that holds the driver firmly in position under lateral cornering loads, braking, and acceleration. The fibreglass shell does not flex under load the way a standard road car seat does, giving a more direct connection between driver and chassis and better feedback from the car. The FRP-302 is NRG’s mid-tier performance seat — above entry-level steel shell seats, below full carbon fibre construction.

Large Size

NRG’s FRP-302 is available in multiple shell widths. The Large is designed for drivers with a wider shoulder and hip profile than the standard/small shell accommodates. Before ordering, compare your shoulder width and hip width against NRG’s published internal seat dimensions for the Large shell — a seat that is too narrow will be uncomfortable and restrict movement, while a seat that is too wide will not provide adequate lateral support.

Black Alcantara with Dragon Livery

Upholstered in black Alcantara — a synthetic suede material that is grippy, lightweight, and visually premium. Alcantara is widely used in OEM and aftermarket performance interiors for its combination of tactile grip, durability, and appearance. The Dragon livery is a graphic pattern applied to the seat upholstery as a cosmetic design element.

Non-Reclining (Fixed Shell)

The “N” suffix denotes non-reclining — the seat shell is fixed at a set angle with no recliner mechanism. Non-reclining is the standard race seat configuration: lighter, simpler, and structurally stiffer than a reclining seat. Seat angle is adjusted via the mounting bracket rather than a recliner. A reclining version (“R” suffix) is available separately for dual-purpose street and track builds where recliner adjustment is needed.

Harness Compatibility

The FRP-302 shell includes pass-through openings for racing harness straps — shoulder strap slots at the top of the shell and anti-submarine strap routing at the bottom. Compatible with 5-point and 6-point racing harnesses. Harness sold separately. Factory lap and shoulder belts are not designed for use with a bucket seat — a racing harness is required for correct occupant restraint with this seat.

Mounting

Side mount brackets are required to mount the FRP-302 to the vehicle’s floor seat rails. NRG offers both universal and vehicle-specific side mount bracket kits — sold separately. Confirm bracket compatibility with the FRP-302’s mounting holes before ordering brackets. Professional installation recommended to ensure correct seat position, angle, and secure fastening.
