NRG Short Hub Adapter - Nissan 240SX S13 / Skyline R32 (Non-HICAS) (SRK-140H)

Fit your aftermarket steering wheel correctly on your S13 or R32 with the NRG short hub adapter. Designed for the Nissan 240SX S13 and Skyline R32 without HICAS, the SRK-140H is a vehicle-specific hub adapter that connects your aftermarket steering wheel or NRG quick release to the factory steering column — with a short design that minimizes added column depth and positions the wheel closer to the driver for a more aggressive, race-inspired driving position.

Important: Non-HICAS applications only. This hub adapter is NOT compatible with R32 Skyline models equipped with HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering). Verify your vehicle does not have HICAS before ordering. Removing the factory steering wheel eliminates the factory airbag — verify local regulations before proceeding.

Key Features:

  • Short hub design — minimizes added steering column depth
  • Vehicle-specific fitment for Nissan 240SX S13 and Skyline R32 (non-HICAS)
  • Compatible with NRG quick release systems
  • Compatible with aftermarket steering wheels with standard bolt pattern
  • NRG quality and engineering
  • 1.0 lb

Performance Benefits:

  • Shorter Column Depth: Short design brings the steering wheel closer to the driver vs. standard hub adapters
  • Improved Driving Position: Closer wheel position supports a more aggressive, race-inspired seating position
  • Quick Release Compatible: Works with NRG quick release for easy wheel removal — ideal for track day and cage builds
  • Correct Fitment: Vehicle-specific design ensures correct alignment with factory steering column splines
  • Aftermarket Wheel Ready: Accepts standard aftermarket steering wheel bolt patterns

What is a Hub Adapter?

A hub adapter (also called a boss kit or steering wheel hub) is the interface between the vehicle's steering column and an aftermarket steering wheel. The factory steering wheel bolts directly to the steering column via a splined shaft and retaining nut. An aftermarket steering wheel uses a standard bolt pattern (typically a 6-bolt NRG or Momo/Sparco pattern) that does not match the factory column. The hub adapter bolts to the factory steering column splines on one side and provides the correct aftermarket bolt pattern on the other, allowing any compatible aftermarket wheel to be fitted to the vehicle's specific steering column.

Short Hub — Why It Matters:

Standard hub adapters add a fixed amount of depth to the steering column, pushing the steering wheel further away from the driver. A short hub adapter minimizes this added depth, keeping the steering wheel as close to the factory position as possible. For S13 and R32 builds where a close, aggressive driving position is desired — particularly on track day and drift builds where driver positioning and steering feel are critical — the short hub is the correct choice. The reduced depth also helps maintain sightlines to the instrument cluster, which can be partially obscured by a standard hub on some vehicles.

HICAS — Why It Matters for Hub Fitment:

HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering) is Nissan's rear-wheel steering system, available on certain R32 Skyline variants including the GT-R (BNR32) and some GTS-t models. HICAS uses a hydraulic or electronic system to steer the rear wheels in conjunction with the front wheels, improving high-speed stability and cornering response. The HICAS system integrates with the steering column through a different configuration than non-HICAS models, resulting in a different steering column spline and hub interface. A hub adapter designed for non-HICAS applications will not correctly fit a HICAS-equipped steering column. Always verify whether your R32 has HICAS before ordering a hub adapter — HICAS can typically be identified by checking the vehicle's build sheet, VIN decoder, or inspecting the rear subframe for the HICAS actuator.

NRG Quick Release Compatibility:

The SRK-140H is designed to work with NRG's quick release systems, which allow the steering wheel to be removed and reinstalled quickly without tools. A quick release is a popular addition to S13 and R32 track day and drift builds for two reasons: it allows the driver to remove the steering wheel for easy entry and exit in a car with a roll cage or tight cockpit, and it provides a theft deterrent by allowing the wheel to be taken with the driver when leaving the car. NRG's quick release systems attach to the hub adapter on one side and the steering wheel on the other. The quick release and steering wheel are sold separately from the hub adapter.

Airbag Deletion — Important Safety Note:

Installing an aftermarket steering wheel and hub adapter requires removing the factory steering wheel, which eliminates the factory airbag. The airbag is a critical safety system that provides significant protection in frontal collisions. Removing the airbag increases the risk of serious injury or death in a collision. This modification is intended for track-use vehicles or builds where the driver accepts the associated safety trade-offs. Many jurisdictions have regulations regarding airbag deletion on road-registered vehicles — verify local regulations before proceeding.

S13 240SX and R32 Skyline — Platform Context:

The Nissan 240SX S13 (1989-1994) and Skyline R32 (1989-1994) are two of the most iconic Japanese performance platforms of their era, sharing a common steering column interface that makes the SRK-140H compatible with both. The S13 240SX is the North American market version of the S13 Silvia/180SX, powered by the KA24DE and popular for its lightweight chassis, balanced handling, and extensive aftermarket support for both street and drift builds. The R32 Skyline is the platform that introduced the legendary GT-R nameplate to a new generation, with the BNR32 GT-R's RB26DETT twin-turbo and ATTESA E-TS AWD system making it one of the most capable performance cars of its time. Both platforms have dedicated enthusiast communities and extensive aftermarket support, making the NRG SRK-140H a popular hub adapter choice across both.

Perfect For:

  • Nissan 240SX S13 builds wanting NRG short hub for aftermarket steering wheel installation
  • Nissan Skyline R32 (non-HICAS) builds wanting short hub for close driving position and quick release compatibility
  • S13 and R32 track day and drift builds wanting NRG quick release compatibility
  • Anyone installing an aftermarket steering wheel on a non-HICAS S13 or R32

Perfect For: Nissan 240SX S13 and Skyline R32 (non-HICAS) builds requiring NRG short hub adapter for aftermarket steering wheel installation, reduced column depth, and NRG quick release compatibility.

Pro Tip: Always disconnect the battery and wait at least 10 minutes before working near the airbag system — the airbag capacitor retains charge after the battery is disconnected, and accidental airbag deployment during installation can cause serious injury.

Short Hub | Non-HICAS Only: Nissan 240SX S13 and Skyline R32. NOT for HICAS-equipped R32. Quick release compatible. Airbag deleted — verify local regulations. 1.0 lb. Disconnect battery before installation.

Fit your aftermarket steering wheel correctly on your S13 or R32 with NRG SRK-140H — short hub, vehicle-specific fitment, non-HICAS only, NRG quick release compatible.
