Why High-Lift Hood Brackets?

The OEM VA WRX and STI hood prop rod holds the hood open at a relatively low angle — functional for basic checks but restrictive when working around the turbocharger, top-mount intercooler, intake, or other components that require overhead clearance. The OEM prop rod also requires manual placement each time the hood is opened. PERRIN’s high-lift brackets replace the prop rod entirely with a pair of billet aluminium lift supports that hold the hood open at a significantly greater angle — giving full overhead clearance across the entire engine bay width. Open the hood and it stays open, hands-free, at the correct angle for service work.

Billet Aluminium — Red Anodized

The PSP-BDY-011RD brackets are machined from billet aluminium and finished in red anodize — PERRIN’s signature colour and one of the most recognisable finishes in the Subaru aftermarket. Red anodized PERRIN components are a staple of the built WRX and STI engine bay aesthetic, complementing red valve covers, intake components, and other red-accented parts common on STI builds. The anodized finish resists corrosion, handles engine bay heat cycling and fluid exposure, and holds its colour over time. Direct Replacement — No Drilling Required

The PSP-BDY-011RD installs using the existing OEM hood hinge mounting points on the VA chassis — no drilling, cutting, or modification to the hood or body. All required hardware is included. Installation is straightforward and does not require professional assistance, though familiarity with the WRX/STI engine bay is helpful.

VA Chassis Fitment — 2015–2021 Only

The PSP-BDY-011RD fits the VA-body Subaru WRX (2015–2021) and WRX STI (2015–2021) — the full production run of the VA generation. This product does not fit the 2022+ Subaru WRX (VB chassis), which uses a different body structure and hood hinge geometry. Confirm your model year before ordering.
