BTR Stage 4 V2 Truck Camshaft – GM Gen III/IV LS Truck | 224/230 @ .050” | .624”/.624” Lift | 112° LSA | BTR32430090

⚠️ REQUIRED BEFORE INSTALLING:

  • Upgraded valve springs are mandatory — stock springs will not survive .624” lift. Valve float and potential engine damage will result if stock springs are retained. BTR or equivalent upgraded springs required
  • Professional ECU tuning is mandatory — do not drive aggressively until the engine has been properly tuned for this cam profile
  • Automatic transmissions: An upgraded torque converter (2,800–3,200 RPM stall) is strongly recommended — this cam reduces low-end torque and a stock converter will hurt drivability and performance

Brian Tooley Racing’s Stage 4 V2 camshaft for Gen III and Gen IV GM LS truck engines — 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L Vortec applications. 224°/230° duration at .050”, .624”/.624” lift, 112° LSA. BTR’s truck-specific grind optimised for the heavier platform — strong mid-range torque and top-end pull with an aggressive lopey idle. A significant step up in performance over milder truck cams, with the supporting modification requirements to match.

What to Expect from the Stage 4 V2

This is an aggressive cam — not a mild street grind. Understanding the tradeoffs before ordering:

  • Idle: Pronounced lopey idle — noticeably rough at low RPM. This is expected and characteristic of the cam profile
  • Low-End Torque: Reduced compared to stock. The 112° LSA helps retain more low-end than tighter LSA grinds, but low-RPM response will be down from stock
  • Mid-Range: Strong torque delivery through the mid-range — where most street driving and towing occurs
  • Top-End: Pulls hard to 6,200+ RPM — significantly stronger than stock in the upper RPM range
  • Power Brakes / Vacuum: Reduced manifold vacuum may affect power brake booster feel. A vacuum pump may be required depending on the build
  • Drivability: Streetable with proper supporting modifications and a good tune — not a track-only cam, but requires commitment

Cam Specifications

  • Duration @ .050”: 224° intake / 230° exhaust
  • Valve Lift: .624” intake / .624” exhaust
  • LSA: 112° (Lobe Separation Angle)
  • Recommended RPM Range: 1,800–6,200 RPM

Required and Recommended Supporting Modifications

Required:

  • Upgraded valve springs (BTR or equivalent) — mandatory for .624” lift
  • Cam installation gasket set
  • Professional ECU tune after installation

Strongly Recommended:

  • Upgraded pushrods (stock may work on some applications, verify length for your build)
  • Timing chain replacement while engine is apart
  • Upgraded torque converter — 2,800–3,200 RPM stall for automatic transmissions
  • Check piston-to-valve (PTV) clearance — especially on any engine with aftermarket pistons or a stroker kit
  • Long tube headers — improve exhaust scavenging and extract more of the cam’s top-end capability

Compatible Engines

Gen III LS Truck: 4.8L LR4/L20, 5.3L LM7/L59/LM4/L33/LC9/LMG/LH6/LY5/LMF, 6.0L LQ4/LQ9/L76/LY6/LC8

Gen IV LS Truck: 4.8L L20, 5.3L LC9/LMG/LH6/LY5/LMF/L83, 6.0L LY6/LC8/L96, 6.2L L9H/L94/L99

Common Vehicle Applications

  • 1999–2013 Chevrolet Silverado / GMC Sierra — 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L
  • 2007–2013 Chevrolet Tahoe / Suburban / GMC Yukon — 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L
  • 2004–2007 Cadillac Escalade — 6.0L, 6.2L
  • 2002–2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS — 6.0L

Upgraded valve springs mandatory — stock springs will not survive .624” lift. Professional ECU tuning mandatory after installation. Automatic transmissions: upgraded torque converter strongly recommended. Check piston-to-valve clearance. Replace timing chain while engine is disassembled. Professional installation recommended — camshaft installation requires significant engine disassembly.
