Apollo-4 4-Piston Monoblock Calipers

EBC’s Apollo-4 calipers are fixed 4-piston monoblock units — machined from a single billet of aluminium rather than assembled from two bolted halves. Monoblock construction eliminates the flex point at the caliper split line, producing a stiffer caliper body that maintains consistent pad-to-rotor contact geometry under hard braking loads. Four pistons — two per side of the rotor — apply clamping force evenly across the full pad face, improving braking modulation and reducing the pad taper wear common with OEM sliding single-piston calipers. The result is more progressive, consistent brake feel at the pedal and more even pad wear across the service life of the pad.

330mm Slotted Rotors

The 330mm rotor diameter is a significant step up from the JZA80 Supra’s factory front rotor size. The larger diameter increases the mechanical advantage (torque per unit of clamping force) for improved stopping power, adds rotor mass for greater heat absorption capacity during extended braking events, and increases the swept area available for heat dissipation. EBC’s rotors feature slots machined into the rotor face — slots evacuate hot gases, brake dust, and debris from the pad-to-rotor interface, maintaining consistent bite and preventing pad glazing under sustained hard braking.

Wheel Clearance

The Apollo-4 caliper and 330mm rotor combination requires sufficient wheel inner barrel clearance. Before ordering, verify that your wheels provide adequate clearance for the caliper body — minimum 17” diameter is a general baseline, but clearance is specific to the wheel’s spoke design and inner barrel depth. EBC provides a caliper dimension drawing on request — compare against your wheel’s inner barrel measurement or use a clearance template before committing to the kit.
