GrimmSpeed Exhaust Manifold-to-Turbo Gasket | Mitsubishi Evo 8 / 9 / 10 | Twin Scroll | 020003
GrimmSpeed Exhaust Manifold-to-Turbo Gasket – Mitsubishi Evo 8 / 9 / 10 | Twin Scroll | 020003
Twin scroll gasket — for twin scroll turbo inlet flange only. The Evo 8/9/10 factory turbo uses a divided (twin scroll) inlet flange. This gasket is not interchangeable with single scroll manifold or turbo gaskets. Confirm your turbo inlet configuration (twin scroll or single scroll) before ordering — especially if running an aftermarket turbo. Single gasket — not a pair.
GrimmSpeed 020003 exhaust manifold-to-turbo gasket for the 2003–2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, IX, and X. Twin scroll divided flange specification covering the factory turbine housing inlet interface on the 4G63 (Evo 8/9) and 4B11 (Evo 10). Replaced during turbo removal, turbo upgrades, manifold service, or whenever the manifold-to-turbo interface is broken. Single gasket. 0.35 lbs. Ships fast across Canada and the US.
Manifold-to-Turbo Gasket — Location and Function
The exhaust manifold-to-turbo gasket seals the interface between the exhaust manifold outlet flange and the turbo’s turbine housing inlet flange. On the Evo platform, exhaust gas exits the head through the exhaust manifold and enters the turbo’s twin scroll turbine housing through this flanged joint. A failed or damaged gasket at this interface causes an exhaust leak between the manifold and turbo — symptoms include an exhaust/boost leak tick or hiss under boost, exhaust smell in the engine bay, and potential loss of spool efficiency if gases bypass the turbine wheel. This gasket should always be replaced when the turbo is removed or when any manifold or turbo work is performed.
Twin Scroll — Why It Matters for Gasket Selection
The Evo 8/9/10 factory exhaust manifold is a twin scroll design: the four exhaust runners are grouped into two pairs (cylinders 1/4 and 2/3) and kept separated through the manifold and into the turbo’s divided turbine housing inlet. This separation allows each exhaust pulse pair to arrive at the turbine wheel without interference from the other pair, dramatically improving turbo response and spool characteristics compared to a single scroll design. The twin scroll inlet flange has a dividing wall down the centre of the flange face. A twin scroll gasket replicates this divided port geometry. If you have retrofitted a single scroll turbo to your Evo, a single scroll gasket is required instead — the divided wall of the twin scroll gasket will obstruct a single scroll turbo inlet.
Evo 8 / 9 / 10 Fitment — 4G63 and 4B11
GrimmSpeed’s 020003 covers all three generations of the North American Evo:
- Evo VIII (CT9A, 2003–2005): 4G63 iron-block engine, TD05H-series twin scroll turbo. The definitive twin scroll Evo benchmark.
- Evo IX (CT9A, 2006–2007): 4G63 with MIVEC, updated TD05H-series twin scroll turbo. Same manifold-to-turbo flange interface as Evo 8.
- Evo X (CZ4A, 2008–2015): 4B11 aluminium-block engine, TD05H-16GXT twin scroll turbo. Architecture change from 4G63 but GrimmSpeed’s 020003 covers the Evo X twin scroll manifold-to-turbo flange — confirm fitment for aftermarket turbo applications on the Evo X platform.
Single gasket. Twin scroll flange — not compatible with single scroll turbos. Replace any time the turbo or manifold is removed. Do not reuse old gaskets after flange separation.
