NRG 5-Point Racing Harness – 3" Webbing | Cam Lock | SFI 16.1 | Neon Green | SBH-B6PCNG

⚠️ SAFETY — IMPORTANT INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS: A racing harness must be used with a properly designed racing seat with harness pass-throughs, mounted to a roll cage or approved harness bar at manufacturer-specified angles and attachment points. Installing a harness in a street car without a roll cage significantly increases injury risk in many crash scenarios by holding the occupant rigidly in position while the cabin deforms. Do not install this harness in a street-driven vehicle without consulting a qualified safety equipment installer.

⚠️ SFI EXPIRY — SFI 16.1 harnesses have a 2-year service life from the date of manufacture for sanctioned competition use. Check the manufacture date tag on the harness before purchase and at each event. An expired harness may not be accepted at sanctioned events. — SFI 16.1 is NOT HANS/FHR device compatible. Verify your series or event rules for the required harness specification before ordering.

NRG’s SBH-B6PCNG — a 5-point racing harness with 3-inch webbing, cam lock central buckle, and included shoulder pads. SFI 16.1 certified. Neon Green webbing. 7.5 lbs.

5-Point Configuration

The 5-point harness uses five attachment straps — two shoulder straps, two lap straps, and one anti-submarine strap. The anti-submarine strap routes between the driver’s legs and attaches to the floor or seat, preventing the driver from sliding forward and under the lap belts (submarining) during a frontal impact. This is a critical safety improvement over a 4-point harness, which lacks the crotch/anti-sub strap and can allow submarining in hard frontal impacts.

Cam Lock Buckle

All five straps feed into a central cam lock release plate. A single actuation of the cam lock releases all straps simultaneously, allowing rapid driver egress after an incident. The cam lock mechanism is intuitive to operate and is one of the most common buckle types used in club racing, track day, and autocross applications. Tighten all straps before use — the cam lock plate should be positioned at the sternum for correct geometry.

3-Inch Webbing

3-inch wide straps distribute impact load across a larger area of the body than the factory 2-inch seatbelt, reducing the risk of soft tissue injury in an impact. The shoulder pad inserts provide additional comfort and cushioning during extended track sessions.

SFI 16.1 Certification

This harness carries SFI 16.1 certification — the SFI Foundation’s specification for racing harnesses used without a HANS/FHR (Head and Neck Restraint) device. SFI 16.1 is accepted by many sanctioning bodies for club racing, time attack, autocross, and similar events. Key notes:

  • Not HANS compatible: SFI 16.1 harnesses are not designed for use with a HANS or FHR device. If your series requires HANS device use, verify whether SFI 16.5 (HANS-compatible) is required
  • 2-Year Service Life: SFI certifications on harnesses expire 2 years from the date of manufacture. Check the manufacture date label on the harness. An expired harness is not accepted in sanctioned competition
  • Verify Series Rules: Sanctioning body rules vary — always confirm the required harness specification for your series or event before purchasing

Installation Requirements

A racing harness must be installed correctly to provide its intended protection. Requirements include:

  • A racing seat with harness pass-through slots at the correct shoulder and lap belt angles
  • Mounting points on a roll cage, approved bolt-in harness bar, or chassis attachment points rated for harness loads
  • Correct strap routing angles — shoulder straps should pull rearward and slightly downward from the shoulder, not upward. Incorrect angles reduce effectiveness and can cause injury
  • Professional installation by a qualified safety equipment installer strongly recommended

Racing harness — not a replacement for factory seatbelts in street-driven vehicles without a roll cage. SFI 16.1 certified — 2-year service life from manufacture date. Not HANS/FHR compatible — verify series rules. Professional installation required. Inspect harness webbing, stitching, and hardware before each use. Replace immediately if any damage, fraying, or contamination is found. Do not modify the harness.
