What’s Included — Clock Spring + SRS Resistors
The SRK-131H is a complete hub kit, not a bare adapter. Included components:
- Short hub adapter body: Bolt-on interface between the Honda column spline and a 6-bolt 70mm PCD aftermarket steering wheel.
- SRS clock spring (spiral cable): NRG’s replacement clock spring module maintains the rotating electrical connection on the steering column for horn and steering wheel control circuits after the factory clock spring is removed with the airbag assembly. Without a functioning clock spring, horn operation is lost and other column-mounted controls may be affected.
- SRS resistors: Load resistors that simulate the electrical resistance of the factory airbag squib to the SRS ECU. When the airbag is removed, the SRS ECU detects an open circuit and illuminates the airbag warning light. The included resistors suppress this fault light by presenting the correct resistance value to the SRS ECU.
This bundled kit eliminates the need to source the clock spring and SRS resistors separately — a meaningful convenience and cost advantage over a bare hub adapter.
Short Hub — Reduced Offset
The “short” designation refers to the hub’s reduced offset depth compared to a standard hub adapter. A short hub brings the aftermarket steering wheel closer to the driver without requiring a deep dish wheel or a steering wheel spacer, and is typically combined with a quick-release (QR) system for track use. The shorter offset improves driving position in vehicles where the factory column height and seat positioning would otherwise place a standard-depth hub too far from the driver.
Honda Column Fitment — EK9 Civic / S2000 / Prelude
The SRK-131H fits Honda vehicles sharing the same steering column spline interface: the EK-chassis Civic (including EK9 Civic Type R), S2000 AP1 and AP2, and 5th-generation Prelude (BB6/BB8). All share the same Honda column spline specification that the SRK-131H is keyed to. Confirm your specific vehicle’s column spline matches before ordering — not all Honda/Acura models share the same column interface.
