P2M Black Series hood damper kit for the 2009–2020 Nissan 370Z (Z34). Replaces the factory hood prop rod with a pair of gas-charged struts that hold the hood open automatically — no prop rod required. Black Series finish. LHD (USDM) vehicles.
Hood Damper — Prop Rod Replacement
The factory 370Z hood uses a manual prop rod to hold the hood open — a single metal rod that must be manually placed in its bracket each time the hood is opened. P2M’s hood damper kit replaces this system with a pair of gas-charged struts mounted to dedicated brackets on each side of the engine bay. The struts automatically support the hood at full open position without any manual prop rod placement. The hood opens and stays up on its own, and closes smoothly against the strut resistance. The factory prop rod and its mounting bracket are removed during installation.
Black Series Finish
The P2M Black Series dampers feature a black-finished body and hardware — a clean, low-profile appearance that integrates well into the engine bay without the visual noise of polished chrome struts.
Installation Note — Bracket Orientation
The kit includes handed brackets labelled L and R. For LHD (left-hand drive / USDM) vehicles, install as follows:
- L bracket — driver’s side (left side in a LHD vehicle)
- R bracket — passenger’s side (right side in a LHD vehicle)
Installing brackets in the incorrect orientation will prevent the damper from seating correctly. Verify bracket labelling against this orientation before drilling or mounting.
