Installation Notes:

  • Verify your cooling system has a 1/8" NPT threaded port for the temperature sensor before installation
  • Apply thread sealant (PTFE tape or liquid sealant) to the sensor threads before installation to ensure a leak-free seal
  • Route wiring away from heat sources, sharp edges, and moving components
  • Use an appropriately rated relay if your fan draws close to or exceeds 25 amps — verify your fan’s amp draw before installation
  • Connect the A/C override wire to the A/C compressor signal wire to enable automatic fan activation with A/C

NPT vs. Probe-Style Sensor:

Mishimoto offers this fan controller in two sensor configurations — the 1/8" NPT thread-in sensor (this kit) and a probe-style sensor. The NPT thread-in sensor installs directly into a 1/8" NPT threaded port in the radiator tank, coolant fitting, or coolant line, providing a secure, vibration-resistant, leak-free temperature measurement point. The probe-style sensor clamps or clips to a coolant hose and measures temperature through the hose wall. The NPT thread-in sensor is the preferred choice for builds with an available 1/8" NPT port — it provides more accurate, consistent temperature measurement and eliminates the risk of the sensor shifting position or losing contact with the hose.
