⚠️ CRITICAL — AN ECU/PCM TUNE IS REQUIRED after DOD delete. The engine control module must be reprogrammed to disable DOD/AFM. Running a DOD-deleted engine without a tune will cause fault codes, rough idle, and potential engine damage. Do not install this kit without a tune plan in place.
⚠️ “1/2 BASIC” KIT — This is a partial DOD delete kit. It does NOT include a camshaft. If your current camshaft is a DOD-specific cam (with the DOD lobes), you will need to replace it separately. Verify your camshaft specification before ordering. A full DOD delete on a DOD-cam engine requires a non-DOD compatible camshaft in addition to this kit.

Why Delete DOD/AFM
GM’s DOD (Displacement on Demand) / AFM (Active Fuel Management) system deactivates cylinders 1, 4, 6, and 7 under light load to improve fuel economy. The system uses special collapsing lifters that retract to deactivate the valvetrain on those cylinders. These DOD lifters are a well-documented failure point — they collapse prematurely, causing oil consumption, misfires, camshaft lobe wear, and in severe cases, catastrophic engine damage. DOD delete eliminates the system entirely, replacing the DOD lifters with solid-body performance lifters and removing the DOD valley cover and associated oil passages.
What’s Included — 5560-8KIT
- 8x COMP Cams Premium Lifters: Solid-body, non-DOD lifters — replace all 8 DOD cylinder lifters (cylinders 1, 4, 6, 7 — 4 per bank). These are COMP’s performance hydraulic roller lifters, not OEM replacement lifters
- Lifter Trays: Replacement lifter trays for the DOD cylinders — the DOD lifter trays differ from standard LS lifter trays
- Head Gaskets & Bolts: Head gaskets and head bolts are included — required as the heads must be removed to access the lifters
- LS3 Valley Cover: Replaces the DOD-specific valley cover (which contains DOD oil solenoids and passages) with a standard LS3 valley cover — eliminates the DOD oil circuit
What’s NOT Included
- Camshaft — if your engine has a DOD-specific cam, it must be replaced separately
- Remaining 8 lifters (non-DOD cylinders) — if replacing all 16 lifters, additional lifters are required
- ECU/PCM tune — must be sourced separately (HP Tuners, EFI Live, or dealer/tuner)
- Intake manifold gaskets — recommend replacing while the intake is off

ECU/PCM tune required after installation — do not run engine without DOD disabled in the tune. This is a 1/2 basic kit — camshaft not included. Verify your camshaft is DOD-compatible or plan for cam replacement. Professional engine building experience required for installation — head removal is necessary. Torque all fasteners to GM specification. Recommend replacing all gaskets and seals while engine is apart. Confirm engine code and DOD applicability before ordering.
