GrimmSpeed’s replacement TGV-to-engine gasket pair for the Subaru EJ engine — sealing the interface between the Tumble Generator Valve (TGV) assemblies and the engine (cylinder head intake ports). Sold as a pair (two gaskets) — one per side of the EJ’s horizontally-opposed flat-four layout. Required when installing GrimmSpeed’s TGV delete kit, or any time the TGV assemblies are removed from the engine for service or replacement.

What Are TGVs and Why Are They Removed?

Tumble Generator Valves (TGVs) are butterfly valves built into the Subaru EJ intake manifold runners. At low RPM, the TGVs partially close to create turbulence in the intake charge, improving combustion efficiency and idle quality. On a stock or mildly modified engine they function as intended, but on modified EJ builds they become a restriction — the partially-closed valves limit airflow at higher RPM and boost levels, and the TGV actuator assemblies are a known failure point that can cause boost leaks, check engine lights, and rough running. GrimmSpeed’s TGV delete kit removes the butterfly valves and replaces the TGV assemblies with smooth-bore units, eliminating the restriction and the failure points. This gasket pair is required for that installation — and is also the correct replacement gasket any time the factory TGV assemblies are removed.
