A’PEXi’s GT Downpipe for the 1986–1991 Mazda RX-7 FC3S — 70mm (2.75”) stainless steel, direct bolt-on replacement for the factory downpipe. The FC3S factory downpipe is a known restriction on this platform — the larger 70mm bore reduces exhaust backpressure, allowing the 13B-T turbo to spool faster and improving mid-range and top-end power. Includes gaskets and mounting hardware. Made in Japan.
Why the Downpipe Matters on the FC3S
The 13B-T rotary turbo is sensitive to exhaust backpressure — the factory downpipe’s restricted bore increases backpressure at the turbine housing, slowing turbo spool and limiting top-end flow. The A’PEXi GT’s 70mm bore is substantially larger than the factory piece, reducing turbine outlet restriction and allowing the turbo to expel exhaust gases more freely. The result is faster spool, improved mid-range response, and better top-end power. On a stock or mildly modified FC3S, the downpipe is one of the highest-value exhaust upgrades available.
