Cometic’s Street Pro kits are designed for engine rebuilders who want quality gasket materials across the full top end in a single kit purchase. The Street Pro line prioritises gasket material quality over entry-level composite kits, making it appropriate for both OEM-spec rebuilds and mildly modified street engines. The top end kit covers the cylinder head and all upper engine sealing surfaces — it does not include bottom end gaskets (oil pan gasket, rear main seal, crankshaft seals). Builders doing a full engine overhaul should source a bottom end kit separately.

MLS Head Gasket Included

The Street Pro kit includes Cometic’s Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket at 90mm bore. MLS construction uses multiple layers of embossed stainless steel with precision-controlled sealing bead geometry — significantly more reliable than the OEM composite head gasket, particularly on engines running increased cylinder pressures from boost, nitrous, or aggressive naturally aspirated builds. The MLS gasket requires a properly surfaced deck and head — surface finish requirements are tighter than for composite gaskets. Confirm your machine shop is aware an MLS gasket will be used and surfaces accordingly.

90mm Bore — +1mm Overbore

The OEM KA24DE cylinder bore is 89mm. This kit is spec’d for a 90mm bore — intended for engines that have been machined +1mm oversize to restore cylinder geometry beyond the OEM wear limit. The head gasket bore must match or appropriately clear the machined cylinder bore — a mismatched bore diameter will cause the gasket fire ring to intrude into the combustion chamber or leave the cylinder unsupported at the deck. Confirm your machined bore diameter before ordering.

KA24DE vs KA24E

The KA24DE (DOHC, dual overhead cam) and KA24E (SOHC, single overhead cam) are mechanically distinct engines with different cylinder head configurations, valve cover designs, and gasket requirements. This kit is for the KA24DE only. Confirm your engine is the DOHC DE variant before ordering — the DE has two cam covers visible from above; the E has one.
