3-Port Boost Control Solenoid

A 3-port boost control solenoid is the standard configuration for electronic boost control on single-turbo setups. The three ports connect to: the boost pressure source (compressor outlet or post-intercooler), the wastegate actuator, and atmosphere (vent). The ECU pulses the solenoid at a set duty cycle to bleed pressure from the wastegate actuator signal line — the higher the duty cycle, the more pressure is bled, the later the wastegate opens, and the higher the boost level builds. This allows the ECU to actively target and hold a boost setpoint across the RPM range, rather than relying solely on the wastegate spring pressure as in a non-electronic setup.

33Hz — Haltech ECU Compatible

The HT-020400 operates at 33Hz — the pulse frequency at which the ECU switches the solenoid on and off. This frequency must be matched to the ECU’s boost control output setting. Haltech ECUs natively support 33Hz boost control output and are the primary application for this solenoid, though it is compatible with any ECU that supports a 3-port solenoid at 33Hz. Confirm your ECU’s boost control output frequency before specifying a different frequency solenoid.
