J&L Oil Separator 3.0, PCV Side, Black Anodized | 3131P-B
The J&L 3.0 oil separator intercepts oil mist in the PCV path before it returns to the intake on compatible 2021–2026 Ford F-150 5.0L engines. This black-anodized version combines a solid billet-aluminum body, serviceable 3 oz reservoir and application-specific OEM-style quick-connect fittings. Ships fast across Canada and the US.
Application
- Ford F-150 5.0L, 2021–2026.
- PCV-side oil separator configuration.
- J&L also lists applications with Whipple superchargers; confirm compatibility with the exact supercharger and PCV arrangement before ordering.
Oil-Separation Design
Crankcase ventilation can carry suspended oil back toward the intake. The separator uses a fine stainless-steel mesh screen and an aluminum honeycomb filter stage to help oil droplets collect and fall into the reservoir, reducing oil carryover rather than promising complete removal.
The existing product specification describes a 1/2-inch-thick honeycomb filter with 1/16-inch cells. The reservoir has a knurled base for removal and an O-ring seal at the service joint.

Installation and Maintenance
Follow the application-specific J&L instructions for mounting and hose routing. Check that the connections are secure, the hoses are not kinked and the reservoir is accessible for servicing.
Inspect collection frequently after installation to establish a suitable draining interval for your truck. The original guidance suggests draining every 2,000–3,000 miles, but do not treat that interval as a guarantee against filling the reservoir. Adjust the interval for actual accumulation and operating conditions.
An oil separator does not repair excessive blow-by or replace normal engine and PCV-system maintenance. No horsepower gain, octane increase or complete prevention of intake deposits is promised.
